Bug Evolution Beginner Guide: Your First Run
Your first goal is a repeatable food route and a clear next unlock. You can learn both before chasing stronger players.
§Hatch and read the screen#
Use the green start button on the title screen. In the reviewed build, you begin from a Spider Egg and develop into a Garden Spider. The lower part of the screen carries health and XP; the right side holds quest progress and the server leaderboard. Identify those before running into another player.
The title screen also promotes optional purchases. Starting a normal run does not require choosing one of those offers. Prices shown in videos belong to the recording date.

§Follow food and confirm the XP result#
Bright pickups, food objects and small prey provide an early route through the map. The reviewed tutorial specifically says to bite an acorn or cocoon until it breaks. Watch for XP feedback and movement of the level bar after feeding, then use that feedback to distinguish food from scenery.
Walk a short loop between nearby pickups, then look around before repeating it. If a larger player enters the route, change direction while you still have space. This is a practical survival recommendation; the map does not guarantee a safe farming zone.

§Know which progress you are making#
Levels grow your current run. The Bug Tree also has creature unlock conditions involving a previous form, its best level and coins. Reaching a level and paying an unlock are separate actions. An announced unlock by another player at the top of the screen does not unlock that creature for you.
Open Bugs, select the creature you want, and read its own checklist. Track that requirement while you play. Return after meeting it and check whether the action changes from locked to unlockable.
§A short route you can repeat#
Start by eating nearby food until you can recognize the XP and level-up feedback. Select an early trait based on your immediate problem. If you cannot survive, preserve movement and stamina. If you can feed safely, an XP option can help your next milestone.
Check the tree after a milestone, finish the listed requirements, and use your coins deliberately. Test a new form閳ユ獨 movement in open ground before attacking. If the run ends, read the result screen and restart or change bug using the options actually available to your account.
§Use the control hints for your form#
Recorded desktop controls show Bite on left mouse, Run on Shift and a form-specific ability. A flying form can display a different movement hint after evolving. Use the on-screen labels for your current creature rather than assuming every form has identical controls.
On mobile, keep the movement and bite controls clear of your fingers before entering PvP. Exact touch layouts and controller bindings have not been independently tested here.
